Christmas is coming…

Our prayer club had its Christmas party tonight. It was a blast. We just sat around and visited, something we haven’t done for awhile. We also exchanged gifts. Molly picked my name. Was I ever lucky. First of all, I got an Advent calendar, since Mom didn’t send one to me this year. And I promptly ate chocolates 1 thoough 7. Then, she got me a Magic 8 Ball. So, we had fun with that for awhile. Along with it, was a framed photo of Michael Clemons and I at a BC Lions game. Actually, it was a photo of Molly with Clemons’ head on her body. It’s an inside joke. If you remember from last year’s Grey Cup, Molly thought Pinball was a “Make a Wish Foundation” kid on the sidelines, since he was so small and was grinning so much. Then she started calling him Smurfboy because of all the blue he was wearing. Anyways, he’s our football joke. Too funny. And then to top it all off, she bought me a football! A CFL football, complete with air pump and a tee! I’m definitely taking it to school next week and kick it around the lawn of the Academy before I practice. It ought to help me relax!

Other than that, things are crazy busy. I write my Grade 5 Analysis exam, so I’m desperately trying to avoid all studying. My teacher wants me to nail down my recital program before the holidays, so I’m trying to figure that out, too. My Little Mozart class has their concerts next week, plus I have a mandatory staff meeting, an audition, work, teaching, lessons, and I have to find time to have a haircut and pack in there! I’ve given up hope of getting my Christmas shopping done before I get home, so I’m just going to leave it ’til then.

Otherwise, things are good. I sang really well in masterclass today. My voice is turning a corner. Things are evening out, no more “hiccups” in the sound, which is a good thing. And I finally learned that practicing is good. I sang this Mozart aria (“Zeffiretti lusinghieri”, in case you’re wondering…), and I was so nevous, convinced that it wouldn’t sound as good as it did in my practice room. But it went off, well, almost perfectly. My muscles remembered what to do! It was a good lesson. I actually trusted myself today, and the result was fantastic! And on that note, I’m going to listen to some Strauss before I go to bed…
