"You Take Me Home"

I had an odd phone message when I got home tonight.

It was from David Orchard.

David Orchard, if you don’t know, is an academic/farmer who ran for the PC party in 2003. And lost. And got burned by Peter Mackay in the now infamous merger of the PC and Canadian Alliance.

Anyway…

Orchard left a message at my house, stating that Stephane Dion is going to be in town this Sunday, April 1, at 2 pm at the Delta Bessborough (in case you want to go) to make a major policy speech on farming and the Canadian Wheat Board.

Am I the only one who finds it rather odd that a French-Canadian academic is taking the side of farmers, rather than the prairie-based Conservative leader? Hmmm…

Today I went to the eye doctor, and all is well. Yeah! That was about the most productive thing I did today.

I did go to work, though. I guess that, too, was productive.

I cannot wait until the Junos are over. I do support Canadian music. Nothing wrong with that. In fact, it’s great. But the Junos are no more than an awards show for albums that sell well. When’s the last time you saw a classical singer performing on the Junos? Huh? Or the Grammys, for that matter. Many great, independent Canadian artists won’t get any stage or face time. Instead, it’ll be Nelly Furtado, shaking her ass and changing outfits four or five times. The only saving grace this year is that no Canadian Idols are nominated for Album of the Year, unlike last year. What a joke.

One last closing thought: why are men so clueless?

Listening to and love:
LeAnn Rimes: ‘You Take Me Home’
Daniel Barenboim: ‘Liebestraume’
Little Big Town: ‘Live With Lonesome’
Melissa Etheridge: ‘Come to My Window’
The New Pornographers: ‘Use It’
