Check this out. Who knew you could play “Roll Up The Win” in the sands of Afghanistan?
I went back to work tonight after being gone for a week. Not much had changed. But I sure felt rusty. I seemed to be playing catch-up all night. Meh. I sure did miss chatting with everyone, though. That’s the best part of my job. I get to talk to people all day.
Someone asked me today why I was so happy all the time. Well, I’m not always happy, that’s for darn sure. I’m just in a good place right now. I’m doing what I want to do, I’ve got great friends, I’m learning lots, I love my living situation, my job. All is well. It’s hard not to be happy when things are good.
But I also believe happiness is a choice. Crappy things happen all the time, but it’s how you choose to respond that makes the difference.
I learned that lesson last year. When you’re not happy, there’s a reason. And you’ve got to be brave enough to make the hard choices that will make you happier, even if other people think you’re crazy.
There. That’s Nicole’s Philosophy of Happiness: do what you want to do. It’s really that simple.
