First and foremost:
COREY HOMES IS COMING BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cannot tell you how THRILLED and ECSTATIC I am at this turn of events! Not only are the Riders 6-2, but the man who has possibly been one of the most genuine, kindhearted human beings ever to wear the Green and White is returning to where he belongs – home!
When my Mom phoned me, and I confirmed it on the ‘net, I cried.
Giving up Armstead isn’t a big deal. He dropped the ball I don’t know how many times on returns yesterday, and he’s only been getting 6 or 7 yards a return anyway. He’s completely dispensable.
Now, to last night’s game…
It wasn’t terribly exciting in the first half. The second quarter seemed to last forever.
And then came the rain…
Calling it ‘rain’ is an understatement. It was more like a monsoon. A Vancouver-type monsoon. My poncho didn’t have a chance at keeping me dry.
It rained for a good 5-10 minutes before the lights went off. And then we waited. And waited. No announcements for another 10-15 minutes. Then the generators kicked in, and all we heard was, “Right now the game is suspended.” And that’s it. No idea of when it might resume, etc.
After another 20 minutes, my family decided to leave. Personally, I wanted to stay. When we got back to the 4-Runner, we saw the lights at the stadium had gone back on, and a huge yelp came up from the crowd. We listened to the rest of the game on the way home.
It was an experience.
I have to hand it to the Riders. They persevered. And that’s what’s different about this time. They never give up until the final whistle blows. And with the addition of Corey Holmes, they’re only going to get better and better.
6-2. It’s not a dream, fans. It’s reality. OUR reality. Neat, huh?
