"Suddenly I See"

Wow.

I’m a quarter-century old now. 25. It feels like some sort of milestone. Bigger than 19 or 21. It feels grown-up.

And only 5 years ’til 30. 5 years to get my life together.

This is usually where I get all philosophical about my life and where I am. I’m determined not to go there this time. But I will say this: 24 was one of the best years of my life. And 25 is going to be better.

So let’s move on to other things…

First up, I had my first geography test last night. This geography 120 class has been kicking my ass the last while. It’s been 8 years since I’ve had to do any sort of math that involves formulas and equations. I think I did okay on the test, but I’m not convinced. I really should have stuck with geology…

Yeah Riders! Kerry Joseph, Andy Fantuz (for the 2nd straight week) and T.J. Stancil were named offensive, Canadian, and defensive players of the week, respectively. I thought maybe Jamie Boreham would have been given a nod in the special teams category as he did recover his own punt at one point. But 3 out of 4 ain’t too shabby. An ice cream cake is on the line in this weekend’s tilt against the Stampeders. I really hope I (we) win…

I finally watched last week’s ‘Grey’s Anatomy.’ Not impressed with this whole George-Izzie thing. And I cannot STAND Katherine Heigl (Izzie). Who, in their right mind, gets up at the Emmy’s and says, in front of millions of people, with their mother in the audience, “My Mom said I didn’t have a shot in hell of winning this!” WHO DOES THAT?!?! She was just annoying. And I didn’t like her dress. But, my dislike of her character goes way back. I didn’t like her falling in love with Denny, and I sure as hell didn’t like it when she cut his LVAD wire. She should have been kicked out of medical school. Stunts like that should get you more than a little slap on the wrist and some therapy. Anyway, I hope the George-Izzie thing gets cut ASAP. As for Cristina, I’m intrigued as to her future romantic aspirations…

Hockey is back! The NHL gets in gear tonight, and my Leafs don’t look too bad. They shored up their offense with the aquisition of Jason Blake, and hopefully Toskala will be decent in goal. But I hoped the same with Andrew Raycroft last year, and look where that got us. Nowhere. Tomorrow is the hockey draft at work. Hopefully I can get some decent players. And hopefully none of them go out with a season-ending injury one month in.

Well, I suppose I should go and get dressed. It’s time to face this 25 thing head on.

And keep my Grandma in your thoughts and prayers, as she’s having surgery today. I’m thinking of you, Grandma, and I love you!
